On April 21st, Google will be changing it's algorithms to favor websites which are mobile friendly.  According to Google Webmaster Central...
"Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal."
So what does this mean for your website and company?
Lost Customers, Searches, and Sales....
Put plainly you need to be prepared to be ready for the Google change.  If you do not have a website, but your considering one for your business...Jump Start Social Marketing Automatically creates you a mobile friendly website with our Website Design packages.

This will also be important in how your business is posted on Google search results on mobile devices:
If you can see the term "Mobile-friendly" is positioned beside Jump Start Social Marketing page description.
A notable feature of the mobile algorithm is that it analyzes mobile compatibility on a page-by-page basis, rather than a website-wide basis.
What does this mean to your site?

Your entire site will not be penalized, just the pages not optimized will be dropped lower.
If your site has some mobile-optimized pages, however some pages are not, Google will promote the pages with are optimized for mobile use.
The good news is, that it will be maintained day-by-day.
Gary Illyes of Google explained "That the algorithm runs in real-time, so technically, you can do it any day, and as soon as Google picks up on the change, the site will start to benefit from the new mobile-friendly algorithm change."
This means the algorithm will operate in real-time.

So what you do to prepare?
1st check the mobility of your site, and if you do not have a website, consider a company which will be optimizing your site for the change.  Google will also be deriving rankings based on APPs.  If your company does not offer an APP consider doing so. 3rd comply with Google...someone may be searching for you!

Why use Rich Snippets on my Website

Picture
Rich Snippets DefinitionRich Snippets...provide a small sample of a site's content on Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs) of search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing. They enhance your search listing, making it more enticing for users to click on and easier for search engines to extract information

What Content Types Are Supported? There are three different markup specifications currently recognised by the major search engines:

  • Microdata
  • Microformats
  • RDFa
with Microdata being the most widely supported, specifically the schema from Schema.org.
Open Graph tags and Twitter Cards are a form of structured data markup, but they should be employed along with Rich Snippets, not in place of.

Rich Snippets, or structured data markup, can be used on the following content types:
  • Organizations
  • Reviews
  • People
  • Recipes
  • Events

ORGANIZATIONS (You can markup data such as your business address, telephone, etc. which helps local SEO efforts by providing more information towards your Google Map listing.

How to Add Rich Snippets to Your Content Structured data markup does not need to be added to every single content property, though having more content marked up does help search engines present results better. It must also be noted that you should only mark up visible content – hidden page elements and content in hidden div’s do not need to be marked up.

Rich Snippets will help search engines point to specific content on your site, while giving better information, and will help gain you more sales from your organic search customers!

Do you think having a web presence on YouTube matters?

Do you think having a web presence on YouTube matters?  Well if you have any doubt about it mattering let us give you some idea's!
First, YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine in the world, second only to...you guessed it...Google. While Google has acquired YouTube, it still maintains its self as a different search site. Every second of every day, 1,140 searches are performed on YouTube.

With hundreds of hours of video being uploaded to YouTube constantly, it has an vast amount of content that is indexed.  With 1 Billion...with a "B" monthly visitors, and over 6 Billion hours of video viewed each month, it is a heavy weight web presence.

Not only is it a large search for...it is also a large "Social" force.  You tube lets you and I share video about all the things we love.  This is much like Facebook, or Twitter, which allows it to also be...you guess it...Social.

so is YouTube important...YES!!! If YouTube does not get you direct links to your home page, it will allow you to have a stronger presence in the Social World.  This can grow followers, gain customers, or even help...your SEO.  Adding videos of your product or who you are is vital to helping your SEO, and your business!
Have a blessed day!

5 Strategies for your SEO to Avoid...

We are all looking for the positive things we should do online to boost our business..but what about the things we should avoid?  Here are five strategies that you should avoid.

  1. Domain Names that are keyword specific.   In September of 2012 the exact-match domain update devalued many keyword-specific domain names that ranked well due to their name, a name that did not relate to their brand. Building your brand name, and establishing it is far better than trying to use a URL name that is not related to your product.
  2. Microsites. In an attempt to build backlinks to their parent site, companies would build micosites to help point to their product and brands.  However, too many jargon redirects became harmful.  Google could determine devalued sites.  This with the cost of owning microsites is not not impractical, but should be avoided.
  3. Hidden links. Using a text that color matches the background or image of your host site is never a good idea for link building.  Sites would do this to try to boost their SEO in the past. Having these can lead to a high bounce rate, which devalues your site.
  4. Keyword overload. Google’s Panda algorithm will detect and devalue keyword overload. In the past, sites would use this strategy so the Google would detect content and gain value for their site.  However, in today's Internet World it is far better to use quality over quantity.  Keyword overload can also be done in Title tags, and Meta-Tags, it is important to let be specific with your SEO, even in HTML.
  5. Have a clean Website. if you have a business website, what is the point of the site?  To share your information.  If your site is an E-Commerce site, what is it's point...to sell right?  So why  run your customers through hoops with a dirty website?  Your customers know what they want, and you want to sell it to them.  So be sure to have a site which links from your page to a smooth transaction process.  This ensures that your customers are happy and you get the sale.

We hope this info helps, have a Blessed day!

5 Reasons Social Media Is Necessary To Your SEO

Here are 5 Reasons Why Social Media is needed for your SEO...
1. Social Media Allows you to build an Audience.
When your company uses social media, such as twitter or facebook, it allows you to develop a following of loyal fans to your brand or company.  this loyal following will then in turn "share" who you are with those connections they have, giving your business an unlimited connected to those who may not know about your business otherwise.
2. Link Building.
When you develop a Social Media Plan it allows your business to build links to your company, and the products they offer.  Search engines such as Google and Bing will then in turn direct search queries to your products and company pages via Social sites.
3. Social signals are strong.
In times past companies would rely on "purchased" backlinks to build links to their site. Google recognized that this was a problem and now will disallow links which are purchased or come from "dummy" website.
4. Social links bring real traffic to your company site.
As stated earlier, Google saw that purchased backlinks were not actually recommendations, but just a way to drive traffic to your site without anyone having a "experience" with your site.  As a result, Social media can drive "real" people who know your company and "share" your products with those who they are acquainted with.
5.Social Media is the best way to grow your business presence online.
It is not enough to just have a social media account.  No one wants to ride a dead horse. Keeping your social media site active is necessary for good presence.  And that my friends is where Jump Start Social Marketing can help.  We not only can build a Social Media presence for your company, but also keep your growing customer base up-to-date with news and information about YOU!  That is the point...to get your Company Found, and grow your business!

Why is social media marketing needful?

Social Networking is used by 76% of businesses today. Business retailers have seen 133% increases in their revenues from social media marketing.
Social media marketing is the process of gaining website traffic or attention through social media sites. Social media marketing programs usually center on efforts to create content that attracts attention and encourages readers to share it across their social networks. The resulting electronic word of mouth (eWoM) refers to any statement consumers share via the Internet (e.g., web sites, social networks, instant messages, news feeds) about an event, product, service, brand or company. When the underlying message spreads from user to user and presumably resonates because it appears to come from a trusted, third-party source, as opposed to the brand or company itself.
